DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Employees in this job supervise, manage and direct activities in state-owned Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores. Assistant managers supervise a shift, participating in a variety of sales activities including receiving shipments, stocking products, and provide excellent service to all customers in a clean and safe store environment. Throughout operations, Assistant Managers will assign and inspect the work of Liquor Store employees and instruct employees in the proper application of policies and procedures. Assistant Managers assist General Managers, who are accountable for the entire store operation which includes sales, store maintenance, merchandise and cash accounting, maintenance of records and all related functions.
Work hours will vary. Scheduled hours will be equal to 75 hrs. biweekly. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
Organization or Location Restrictions: This posting is restricted to current or former Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board employees (statewide).
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as a Liquor Store Clerk 2; or Two years as a Liquor Store Clerk 1 or an Intermittent Liquor Store Clerk; or One year of lead retail sales work.
NOTICE: Time held in a part-time position will be pro-rated; 1,950 hours will be equivalent to 1 year of qualified experience. This includes time served as a part time Intermittent Liquor Store Clerk.
Legal Requirements: You must pass a background investigation. An applicant with a felony conviction within the last ten years of their prospective date of employment is not permitted to work for the PLCB, per section 210(c) of the Pennsylvania Liquor Code. Other criminal convictions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Must meet the Pennsylvania residency requirement.
This position is subject to the promotion provisions of a collective bargaining agreement or memorandum of understanding.

Promotion Without Examination (PWOE) Class Restrictions for Promotion Without Examination Only - You must have or have held regular civil service status in one of the following classifications: Intermittent Liquor Store Clerk Liquor Store Clerk 1 Liquor Store Clerk 2
Employees who previously held regular civil service status in the job title of the position being filled are also eligible for promotion without examination.
The promotion without examination requirements are issued in accordance with merit system employment regulations.
Meritorious service is defined as (a) the absence of any discipline above the level of written reprimand during the 12 months preceding the closing date of the posting, and (b) the last regular or probationary performance evaluation showing an overall rating of satisfactory or higher.
Seniority is defined as a minimum of one year(s) in the next lower class(es) by the posting closing date with no break in service.
