AMHERST Registration Assistant JOB SUMMARY: Performs entry level customer service duties in the Recreation Department. Receives registrations and performs clerical and administrative tasks, and related work. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the general supervision of the Program Director, who assigns tasks based on overall objectives and workload requirements, reviews work and evaluates performance. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Generally none. The employee is responsible for their own work, but may occasionally provide guidance to volunteers. MAJOR DUTIES: Performs customer service duties, and clerical and administrative tasks, including answering telephones, responding to general inquiries, and assisting with front office operations. Receives cash payments, and assists with accepting registrations. Performs other related duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalent AND any equivalent combination of education and experience or training demonstrating ability to perform above duties efficiently. Proficient cash handling skills. Excellent customer service skills. Skill in operating multiple software applications and in data entry. Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing). Ability to handle stressful situations. Ability to work professionally and cooperatively with the public and coworkers. Ability to multitask, organize and prioritize workload. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bilingual communications capabilities preferred. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED: Telephone, computer, including word processing and spreadsheet software; copy machine; and other standard office equipment.
