GAP Solutions Inc Clinical Advisor (Allergic and Sinus Disorders) in Bethesda, Maryland

Position Objective: Provide services as a Clinical Advisor in support of the overall functions of the Laboratory of Allergic Diseases (LAD), Division of Intramural Research (DIR) within the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safety and provide healthcare services for patients admitted to the NIH Clinical Center, those being seen in NIH clinics for patients with allergic and sinus disorders.

  • Provide critical care and treatment to adult and pediatric patients with severe allergic conditions, including asthma, atopic dermatitis, eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), sinusitis/polyposis, and food and drug allergies.

  • Provide patients with medical and related information on treatments such as: asthma attacks, severe allergic reactions, and other drug reactions.

  • Provide patient consultations on drug allergies, immunodeficiencies, and the management of anaphylaxis or severe allergic reactions in the hospital setting for all institutes admitting patients to the NIH Clinical Center

  • Work with clinical fellows and nurse practitioners and other lab members to ensure patient treatments and ongoing care at the NIH.

  • Provide patient treatments and care as part of clinical team with multidisciplinary physicians in ENT, dermatology, and infectious diseases for comprehensive patient management.

  • Serve as allergist-immunologist to provide clinical care in the hospital setting including consultative care for patients.

  • Assist the Federal Task Leader with clinical SOPs review and edit while working with other clinical staff, fostering a positive environment within the clinic to ensure quality care and service for patients and safety.

  • Assist and engage with the Federal Task Leader and other physician and nurses in clinical or basic research related issues on mechanisms, phenotypes or endotypes of allergic diseases or associated immunodysregulatory diseases.

  • Assist with analyze, review, and publish research findings to contribute to scientific knowledge.

  • Assist the Federal Task Leader with current clinical research projects and initiatives.

  • Actively engage in AI Program-related activities such as simulation, curriculum and programmatic design to advance clinical trials and research on allergies.

  • Work with the Federal Task Leader and other investigators in the NIH Clinical Center and NIAID, to ensure smooth, continual operations and ensure adequate medical support is provided to patients.

    Basic Qualifications:

  • M.D., D.D.S., or D.O. (or equivalent clinical degree).

  • Five or more years of post-fellowship clinical experience is required.

  • Current board certification in Allergy-Immunology and meeting maintenance of certification requirements.

  • Active medical licensure in the US, or the District of Columbia.

  • Demonstrated experience and a strong interest in clinical research and education.

  • Experience with designing and publishing clinical research.

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as core faculty within an Allergy-Immunology Fellowship training program is desirable.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with non-technical and technical staff

  • Detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects
