Primary Responsibilities:
Collaborating with the Site Managers, the Chief Technologist directs the performance of their assigned technologists and is responsible for the efficiency, productivity and quality performed by assigned technologists
Works in collaboration with multiple staff (Technologists, Radiologists, Nursing, office managers and Radiology leadership)
The goal to optimize patient flow and influence patient and staff satisfaction
Oversees the departments inventory, procurement and maintenance of supplies, equipment, and parts
Reviews and updates technical procedures
Assists in the quality assurance program
Performs the duties of the quality assurance in absence of technologist at each site
Coordinates and schedules the department's monthly meetings and in-service education
Oversees the maintenance and cleanliness of radiology equipment
Maintains policies and procedures for radiation safety and infection control
Assists in monitoring good customer/patient relations
Performs the duties of a radiologic technologist
Assists in developing new technique charts
Coordinate activities within the department to assure maximum productivity and enhance best utilization of resources
Maintain professional and technical knowledge and licensure through educational workshops, professional publications and Societies
Establishes and controls the operation of the department PACS and ensures that policies and procedures are reviewed annually
Develops training and orientation for the department's technical staff and coordinates the implementation of same
Delegate duties to other technologists in relevant modality as appropriate
Evaluate and monitor patient dose exposure / badge reports. Reviewing with RSO
Conduct performance evaluations, coaching and counseling on department staff as required
Direct and support employees daily work activities and recommend the following employee actions: Hiring, corrective action and performance reviews
Monitor and approve time cards and mange PTO requests
Work with radiologist to ensure the most appropriate protocols are loaded for the best clinical outcome while being conscious of patient volume throughput
Organize staff meetings with technologists at your center to educate and grow the team. In addition, conduct one-on-one meeting with staff to discuss any issues
Responsible for encouraging technologists to cross train in other modalities and tracking which technologists are certified in which modalities
Conduct environmental and safety procedures including cleaning and sterilizing the exam room and equipment
Evaluate and maintain supply levels and practice safe patient maneuvers
Facilitate the patient experience by greeting patients, explaining pre-and post-procedure instructions, and verifying patient’s identity
Perform exams using proper protocols and positioning techniques, transporting patients safely, verifying accuracy of orders and documenting patient information
Document the patient’s exam through data entry, report retrieval, scanning and recording the exam details in the electronic medical record system
Maintain confidentiality of all patient information per HIPAA guideline
Make tech staffing recommendations with management guidance, approval interview and hire staff
Assist Site Manager in any tasks that would help with operational efficiencies and achieving financial goals
Monitor QA/QC and ensuring all books kept up to date

Required Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
ARRT and valid NY state License
Supervisor or Lead experience
Intermediate computer skills including email and ability to comprehend and utilize Electronic Medical Record System and PACS Systems
Proven to consistently demonstrate commitment to safe practices while abiding by all OSHA and HIPAA guidelines
The hourly range for this role is $28.61 to $56.06 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
