Actalent Field Service Technician in Champlin, Minnesota

Job Title: Field Service TechnicianJob Description

You will be a key part of a technical service support team that provides on-site, telephone, and email support to customers. As a Service Technician, you will travel to customer locations across the USA to perform on-site training, installations, repairs, and maintenance on both hardware and software. This position requires travel 95% of the time, with all travel expenses covered.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose complex technical problems and perform on-site repairs.

  • Examine machines both mechanically and electrically, perform repairs by dismantling machines and rebuilding mechanically and electrically.

  • Perform software updates on HMI and PLC.

  • Effectively interpret schematics and block diagrams to analyze and troubleshoot problem products.

  • Document in detail product problems and resolutions.

Essential Skills

  • Skilled in electrical measurement and inspection techniques (Voltmeter, Oscilloscope, and other measurement equipment).

  • Working knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulics, and electrical systems.

  • Competent skills in reading schematics, using test equipment, and reading software coding to diagnose problems.

  • Familiarity with Windows-based computers for programming drives, PLCs, and other control devices.

  • Proficient with AC and DC control circuits, sensors, switches, relays, timers, and fusing.

  • Experience in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical problems (ball screws, bearings, gearing, and various way systems).

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to manage and prioritize assigned tasks.

  • Must possess a valid, clean driver’s license; REAL ID will be needed by May 2025.

  • Ability to work full-time, Monday – Friday.

  • Willingness to travel 100% of the time.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 2-5 years’ experience as a field service technician in the machine tool industry is a plus.

Work Environment

This role involves 100% travel to customer sites. Travel is predominantly domestic, with a typical trip/install spanning over two weeks. You will leave on a Monday morning and work Monday-Saturday, have Sundays off, then work Monday-Friday and return home on Friday afternoon. Initially, travel will be with another Service Tech, but eventually, you will work independently. All travel is booked through a designated travel agency, and travel rewards (flight miles, hotel points, rental car points) are yours to keep. A company credit card is used for hotel bookings. Pay includes flight/travel time. On average, a Field Service Technician works approximately 8-15 hours of overtime during a pay period. Health insurance (medical, vision, dental) coverage begins the first of the month following the hire date. Life insurance is paid by the company up to $50,000, with long- and short-term disability also covered by the company. A 401(k) plan with company match, paid time off starting from 15 days/year, and 12 paid holidays per year are provided. Tools and uniforms are supplied.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
