Job Title: Construction Inspector Location: Charleston , WV Job Description: We are seeking experienced WVTRET II or III Construction Inspectors for transportation projects in the Charleston, WV area. The Construction Inspector is responsible for overseeing and performing daily construction management and inspection services for various WVDOH and locality transportation projects. Responsibilities: Perform field inspections of contractor operations to ensure compliance with contract documents. Conduct inspections on projects including resurfacing, slide repairs, bridge and roadway construction, and construction management. Prepare daily and weekly reports on contractor progress and work accomplished. Perform materials testing and maintain testing logs. Review periodic pay estimates for accuracy with contractors. Prepare sketches and assemble data for engineering modifications. Maintain detailed records, diaries, and reports on work progress and deficiencies. Perform complex mathematical calculations related to construction. Review contractor schedules, including initial CPM and monthly updates. Communicate effectively with all project stakeholders, including owners, field staff, and contractors. Maintain consistent communication and excellent rapport with all parties throughout the construction process. Required Qualifications: High school diploma or State Equivalency Certificate. Certified as, or possess qualifications to certify as, a WVTRET Level II minimum. Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Word & Excel. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Strong work ethic and willingness to learn. Willingness to work nights and overtime as required by the project. Preferred Qualifications: Associates degree or higher in engineering, technology, construction, or a related field. Certified as, or qualified to certify as, WVTRET Level III or higher. Experience in highway construction inspection at entry to senior level. Experience in roadway and bridge construction, utility construction, and pavement rehabilitation. Prior experience with WVDOH projects preferred. Familiarity with SiteManager and WVDOH Materials Certifications (e.g., aggregate sampling, Portland Cement concrete inspection, soil and aggregate compaction, asphalt field compaction technician) is a plus. Residing within a 1.5-hour radius of Charles Town, WV is ideal.
