Construction Inspector (WVTRET II or III) Bluefield/Princeton, WV We are seeking WVTRET II or III Construction Inspectors for projects in the Bluefield/Princeton, WV area. This is an opportunity to be part of a team that designs and oversees infrastructure and building projects that improve communities. Responsibilities: The Construction Inspector will be responsible for managing and performing daily construction inspection services for various WVDOH and local transportation projects. Inspections may include, but are not limited to: Project Types: Resurfacing Slide repairs Bridge and roadway construction Construction management Duties: Perform field inspections of contractor operations to ensure compliance with contract documents Prepare daily and weekly reports on work progress Conduct materials testing and maintain testing logs Review contractor pay estimates for accuracy Prepare sketches and compile data for engineering changes Maintain diaries and document deficiencies in work Perform complex mathematical calculations Review contractor schedules, including initial CPM and monthly updates Maintain clear and effective communication with all project stakeholders, including owners, field staff, and the contractor Required Qualifications: High school diploma or State Equivalency Certificate Certified as, or qualified to certify as, a WVTRET Level II (minimum) under the WV Transportation Engineering Technician (WVTRET) Certification Program approved by WVDOH Basic computer skills (Word & Excel) Ability to work independently and in a team environment Strong work ethic and willingness to learn Must be willing to work nights and overtime as required by project assignments Preferred Qualifications: Associates degree or higher in engineering, technology, construction, or a related field Certification as WVTRET Level III or higher preferred Highway construction inspection experience (entry-level to senior-level) Demonstrated experience in inspection and management of roadway/bridge construction, utility construction, and pavement rehabilitation WVDOH experience preferred SiteManager experience and WVDOH Materials Certifications a plus (e.g., aggregate sampling, Portland cement concrete inspection, soil and aggregate compaction, asphalt plant and field compaction technician) Ideal candidates will reside within a 1.5-hour radius of Charles Town, WV Benefits: We recognize the value employees bring to our success and offer a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees, including: Flexible work schedule options Competitive salary Leave accrual and paid holidays Healthcare benefits Group Life Insurance, plus optional life insurance Short- and long-term disability insurance Flexible spending accounts (medical and dependent care) 401(k) Retirement Plan Tuition Reimbursement Employee Assistance Program Parental and maternity leave benefits Equal Opportunity Employer: We are an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer and comply with all applicable anti-discrimination laws.
