Job Title: Automotive Machinist
Location: Chesterfield, MI
Position Type: Full-time. 8am - 5pm w/ 1 hour lunch
Pay Rate: $20.00-$25.00 /Based on experience
About Us: We are a reputable engine repair shop committed to providing high-quality repairs and maintenance. We are currently seeking an experienced Automotive Shop Machinist to join our team and contribute to our ongoing success.
Position Overview: As an Automotive Shop Machinist, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining precision machinery used in the repair and maintenance of automotive parts. You will work closely with our mechanics to ensure that automotive components are repaired or modified to the highest standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of machine shop operations, excellent attention to detail, and a passion for working in the automotive industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain a variety of machines, including lathes, resurfacing machines, milling machines, grinders, and other shop equipment: Rottler, Sunnen, Quick-Way
- Fabricate, modify, and repair automotive components, such as engine parts, transmissions, and suspension systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate machining of parts.
- Measure and inspect finished components for accuracy and quality, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning machines and tools to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure timely completion of work orders.
- Keep the machine shop clean, organized, and well-stocked with tools and materials.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and always maintain a safe working environment.
- Stay current on advancements in automotive machining technologies and industry best practices.
* Qualifications:*
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or trade school training in machining is preferred.
- Proven experience working as a machinist, preferably in an automotive or mechanical shop setting.
- Proficient in operating machining equipment (lathes, mills, grinders, etc.) and using precision measuring instruments.
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems and components.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks associated with the job.
- Knowledge of safety practices and protocols in a machine shop environment.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work in a noisy, sometimes dirty environment.
- May be required to stand for extended periods and work in a variety of weather conditions.
