Job Summary This position has lead responsibility for the Regulatory Finance Support organization of the Power Grid Operations (PGO) Finance Organization. This position will be responsible for supporting the PGO organization in various regulatory proceedings. The position provides reporting to PGO for various recovery mechanisms throughout Duke Energy's jurisdictions and provides support compiling data for rate cases and audits as needed. It requires a blended knowledge of technical and functional financial reporting and analysis skills. It is necessary for the lead to be familiar with PGO's various recovery mechanisms in all jurisdictions and develop a working knowledge of the business to be most effective in interacting with the operations personnel we support. The position is also responsible for partnering with the manager to lead the team and coach team members. There are also responsibilities related to month end close. This position's initial primary focus is supporting current and future Multi-Year Rate Plans in North Carolina. The candidate will interface with business and regulatory personnel and ensure accurate monthly financial reporting and collaborate with the business to find process enhancements and reporting efficiency. Responsibilities: Leadership responsibility for month-end close process, cost management reporting, and budget/projection development. Lead, direct, and support team members on completion of daily and monthly tasks. Interface with regulatory and regulatory support teams Serve as key interface with management in Multi-Year Rate Planning. Compile monthly reports for the Multi-Year Rate Plan. Analyze and evaluate monthly results for reasonableness of the Multi-Year Rate Plan and work with business partners to understand variances. Prepare, check and/or post journal entries and accruals on an as needed basis. Serve as key interface with the customer on understanding and implementation of financial policies and procedures. Support regulatory filings including rate cases, MYRP, the Florida Storm Protection Plan, Indiana TDSIC, storm recovery filings. Support audits of various regulatory filings (rate cases, MYRP, storms, SPP, etc.) Actively seek to identify and meet customer needs with a sense of urgency, taking ownership of customer issues and problems until resolved. Lead and/or assist with special projects and requests as required including research and process improvement teams. Lead and/or participate in peer teams when identified with other PGO finance analysts and/or Regulated Utility finance analysts to ensure consistency in processes and reporting, and sharing of best practices throughout the organization. Prepare financial schedules required to meet monthly and quarterly business unit data requests from Corporate Accounting. Assist in the preparation and review of governmental filings and rate cases as needed. Work with internal and external auditors, providing necessary information and answering questions as needed. Lead in SOX documentation updates and management testing. Maintain good working knowledge of accounting policies and impacts as required. Travel to other locations within the jurisdictions as required. Overtime may be required during monthly/quarterly/annual closing processes as well as rollout of new and/or changes processes.
