Cleveland Clinic Lab Technician III - ePathology in Cleveland, Ohio

As Lab Technician III, you will utilize your laboratory knowledge and skills to assist in accessioning, data entry, problem investigations and resolution. In our ePathology Laboratory, you will collaborate with like-minded and experienced team members to advance the department and maintain the integrity of our work here at Cleveland Clinic. This position offers a great opportunity to grow alongside some of the best field experts while exploring your passion.

A caregiver in this position works evenings from 12:00PM - 8:30PM.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Perform advanced manual processing and problem-solving techniques in laboratory accessioning/data entry, problem investigations and resolution.

  • Be involved in creating slides and/or duties associated with the subspecialty client liaison.

  • Receive and accession specimens into the LIS.

  • Conduct higher level accessioning in the LIS including esoteric testing.

  • Conduct advanced tracking investigations.

  • Serve as a subspecialty client liaison.

  • Be responsible for advanced problem solving/issue resolution (pending log/SERS/block QA).

  • Prepare specimens for analysis.

  • Perform manual processing (centrifuge, aliquoting and routine maintenance).

  • Run and resolve LIS logs.

  • Retrieve, sort, track and deliver specimens.

  • Perform logistic activities within and outside of lab.

  • Maintain appropriate documentation.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Associate's Degree (preferably in science) and two years of lab processing experience OR four years of Lab Technician or comparable processing experience OR active enrollment in the Cleveland Clinic MLS Program OR Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Medical Laboratory Science

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform specimen handling techniques and take measurements.

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.

  • Ability to move throughout the department and hospital system.

  • Handles and transports bio-hazardous materials and potential carcinogens.

  • Ability to differentiate color, hue, saturation, and tones.

  • Ability to live/move up to 50 lbs.
