A Glimpse of the Job

The Financial Accountant I performs entry-level professional accounting

Essential Duties/Tasks:

Audit Vouchers

  • Review Payment Request and invoices in AggieBuy for compliance with the State of Texas and TAMU System rules and regulations.

  • Performs accounting work to include the recording, examining, and analyzing financial records, documents or reports.

  • Prepares and analyzes financial transactions. Audits accounting and financial documents for accuracy and completeness.

  • Reconciles accounts

  • Researches discrepancies and reports findings

  • Answers general accounting questions

  • Provides technical assistance regarding accounting procedures

  • Assures compliance with standards, policies and procedures.

Process FAMIS documents

  • Review medical, indemnity, royalty and outside counsel vouchers in FAMIS

Commodity Code Assignment

  • Review requisitions and invoices and assign appropriate commodity codes

Reports

  • Review vouchers and take necessary actions on those vouchers

    Salary: $46,924.80 annually

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. No experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication, customer service and problem-solving skills.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Ability to comprehend, apply and enforce rules and regulations.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet programs and bookkeeping procedures.

  • Previous Texas A&M University experience.
