The College of Dentistry is looking for a Dental Assistant III to serve in the department of Clinical Affairs.  We desire an individual who subscribes to and supports our commitment as stated above. What you need to know

Proposed Salary: $21.51 hourly

Work Schedule/Location: Located in Dallas, TX, this an on-site role with a typical schedule of Monday – Friday 8am to 5pm.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 4 years of experience in related field

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • Registered Dental Assistant

  • CPR certified

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of dental terminology, dental procedures, and four-handed dentistry techniques

  • Knowledge of instruments, materials, and common dental treatment dental procedures

  • Knowledge of infection control procedures and guidelines as well as aseptic techniques

  • Knowledge to order dental supplies and maintain appropriate supply levels

  • Ability to sterilize dental instruments and perform preventive maintenance on equipment

  • Ability to operate dental radiographic equipment

  • Ability to tolerate long periods of bending, standing, and walking

  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and individuals from various communities

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities:

  • Direct Patient Care: Provides direct chair side assistance to student doctors, residents and clinic dentists using four-handed dentistry techniques. Prepares dental operatory for treatment of patient by setting up appropriate dental instruments and equipment for planned dental procedure. Performs indirect patient care procedures, utilizes dental materials and instruments; prepares, mix, and assists dentist in application of various materials; follows manufacturer guidelines or instructions of dentist. Operates dental radiology equipment for the purpose of taking high quality intra-oral radiographs.

  • Environmental Health Standards: Provides instruction to student doctors regarding clinic infection control procedures, ensures the disinfection and cleanliness of clinic operatories, ensures the sterilization of dental instruments and preventive maintenance of equipment complies with dental school guidelines and OSHA requirements. Orders dental supplies and ensures supply levels are maintained and adequate to support the needs of the dental clinic facility.
