Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Job Description
We are seeking a well-rounded Maintenance Technician with a strong mechanical background and proficiency in electrical work. The successful candidate will work with two other technicians to maintain the plant and machinery, ensuring smooth operations. The role involves both proactive preventive maintenance (PMs) and reactive maintenance, with PMs updated in the company's computer system. This team-oriented environment requires collaboration to handle both simple and complex repairs.
Responsibilities
Perform proactive preventive maintenance (PMs) and reactive maintenance as needed.
Update PMs in the company's computer system throughout the shift.
Support line/machine breakdowns as priority number one when they occur.
Collaborate with other Maintenance Technicians to repair machines and maintain production.
Troubleshoot and repair pumps, motors, conveyors, and other mechanical and electrical systems.
Read blueprints and perform electrical troubleshooting, including working with wires, relays, sensors, and voltages up to 480V.
Essential Skills
3+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing manufacturing/production equipment.
Experience with pumps, conveyors, preventive maintenance, and quick tube disconnects for plumbing/pumps.
Knowledge of gearboxes, gears, motors, welding, plumbing/piping, drive shafts, sprockets, cams, chains, and oiling/greasing.
1+ year of experience in electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing manufacturing/production equipment.
Ability to read blueprints and troubleshoot relay/PLC systems.
Basic computer skills for reporting maintenance activities.
Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Journeyman license/card (any).
Experience with blower systems.
Experience with push bearings.
Familiarity with Allen-Bradley systems.
Boiler license/experience.

Work Environment
The work environment is a standard manufacturing setting, producing small plastic/foam pellets for automotive and aerospace industries. The facility is clean and organized, with both brightly lit and dimmer areas. It is an older structure with minor blemishes, climate-controlled but with temperature variations. The majority of the plant is quiet, with a small section being louder. The maintenance team is made up of 10 employees, including a hands-on Maintenance Manager who values teamwork and proper training. The dress code includes plant uniforms, safety glasses, ear protection, and steel-toe boots. Candidates are expected to have their own standard maintenance tools, which are stored in personal sections within the shop. The shift options are Days (6:00 am - 3:00 pm), Afternoons (3:00 pm – 11:00 pm), and Nights (10:00 pm - 7:00 am), with work hours typically ranging from 40-60 hours per week, Monday through Friday, and occasionally on Saturdays.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Detroit, Michigan.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.50 - $35.00/hr.
