Job Overview:

The CPS Billing & IT Specialist at Sunrise Transportation will be responsible for managing billing operations, ensuring accurate invoicing, and supporting the finance team with day-to-day billing tasks. In addition to their primary billing duties, the Billing Specialist will assist with help desk support and IT-related projects. This hybrid role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical and technical skills who can work across both finance and IT functions to ensure smooth operational workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

Billing and Invoicing (70% of the Role)

  • Prepare and issue invoices for services provided by CPS including school bus transportation, field trips, and contracted services.

  • Review contracts, work orders, and agreements to ensure accurate billing details.

  • Maintain and update customer billing records in the internal CPS billing database, including entering weekly customer provided information for adds/changes/drops (routes and mileage).

  • Monitor and track payments, ensure timely collections, and follow up on overdue accounts.

  • Perform account reconciliations to resolve billing discrepancies or disputes with CPS personnel.

  • Generate billing reports for management and assist in financial forecasting.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accuracy and timeliness of billing data during month-end close process.

Help Desk and IT Support (30% of the Role)

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employees experiencing IT-related issues, such as password resets, account setup, system access, software, hardware, and network problems.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic IT issues related to account access, printer connectivity, and system errors.

  • Log, track, and escalate IT support tickets to IT manager when necessary to ensure timely resolution.

  • Assist in setting up new workstations (computers, printers, etc.) for employees and ensuring they are fully operational.

  • Support the IT team with ongoing projects, such as system upgrades, software implementation, or data migrations.

  • Participate in the testing and rollout of new technology solutions, providing feedback to the IT team.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate or bachelor's degree in a related field (accounting, finance, IT) is a plus.

  • 4+ years of experience in a technical billing or accounts receivable role, preferably within the transportation or service industry.

  • Experience with IT help desk support or familiarity with basic IT troubleshooting.

  • Knowledge of accounting software (QuickBooks, Smartsheet, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar) is preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data analysis and billing processes.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot both financial discrepancies and basic IT issues.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and an intermediate understanding of computer hardware/software troubleshooting.
