What Category Management contributes to Cardinal Health

Marketing analyzes customer behavior to understand their needs, and motivations, broadly defines and communicates the brand purpose and passionately delivers total solutions for our customers.
Category management is responsible for cross functional collaboration that helps to deliver sales, profitability and inventory productivity goals by capitalizing on retail marketplace and shopper trends in designated categories. Manages and optimizes supplier relationships and product portfolio to drive financial results, increase market share and exceed customer expectations.
Responsibilities
Collaborates with cross functional teams including pricing, marketing, legal, QRA, planning, inventory management, finance, sales & operations to meet customer expectations and achieve merchandising objectives
Owns and optimizes the category assortment planning and planogram review process. Initiates, negotiates and drives execution of category promotional plans
Maintains positive trade relations and fosters key supplier relationships. Assesses opportunities and gains competitive advantage in negotiations
Develops and deploys strategic category plans & innovative merchandising programs to deliver industry leading results. Obtains category/product expertise, in-depth market and competitive intelligence and knowledge
Efficiently assimilates large amounts of information; exhibits strong financial acumen; exhibits the ability to assess sales patterns based on SKU data and other sources
Responsible for leading a team of 3 to 4 people consisting of various levels of category managers and assistants
Responsible for P&L oversight for entire team, including own categories and categories belonging to direct reports
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field, preferred
Minimum 6 years of experience, preferred
Prior healthcare experience, preferred
People management experience desired
Understanding of the diabetes landscape and technologies desired
Understanding of the acute, long-term healthcare space desired
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate effectively and interact with personnel at all levels of technical ability and expertise
Results oriented, strategic thinker, able to work in a team environment and work independently. Natural curiosity and ability to challenge status quo
Working knowledge of category management principles and practices
Strong foundation of business fundamentals, performance measurement and business financials
Proficient in Microsoft office tools

Interactions normally involve resolution of issues related to operations and/or projects
Gains consensus from various parties involved
Anticipated salary range: $103,500 - $155,295
