Lead Teacher Job Description

Minimum two years of experience in a childcare, preschool, or Head Start setting.

Education past high school is required; minimum of CDA certification or Associate degree in Early Childhood.

Ability to pass a Criminal History background check and FBI fingerprinting.

Current certification in CPR and First Aid.

Show commitment to the mission and vision of TGS Daycare and Learning Center, LLC.

Exhibit the physical, emotional, and intellectual competencies necessary for the position, including but not limited to the ability to routinely lift children, sustain long hours of active work, and the ability to read, speak, and write in the English language (

Responsibilities

Implement duties in accordance with the philosophy, policies, and procedures of TGS Daycare and Learning Center, LLC, as well as Texas Department of Family and Protective Services Child Care Licensing Division regulations.

Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum and lesson plans to foster learning and development.

Respond appropriately to the individual needs of children regarding relationships, environment, activities, safety, health, nutrition, and guidance, treating all children with dignity and respect.

Always supervise children, being aware and responsible for the ongoing activity of each child by being physically present and responsive to their needs.

Interact positively with children, parents, and other staff, showing interest and respect.

Prepare daily curriculum materials and classroom activities in advance to ensure smooth implementation.

Utilize positive, open, and effective communication with all persons in the center.

Maintain orderly arrangement, attractive appearance, and a safe and healthy learning environment, notifying administration when help is needed for repairs.

Take responsibility for supplies, materials, classroom equipment, and storage areas.

Contribute to a team approach with ideas, a positive attitude, dependability, adherence to schedules, and flexibility.

Present a professional appearance, always following the dress code.

Attend all mandatory staff meetings and trainings, completing required continuing education hours.

Complete other duties as assigned by the administrative staff.

Notify administration if unable to meet the physical or emotional demands of the position.

Observe and assess childrens development, documenting progress and communicating with parents as needed.

Support children with self-care tasks, including handwashing, restroom breaks, and transitions between activities.

Assist with behavior management, using positive reinforcement techniques and redirecting when necessary.

Establish strong relationships with families, maintaining open and professional communication.

Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including sanitization, meal preparation, and emergency preparedness.
