Description
Robert Half has partnered with a County office in Colorado who is looking for an Assistant County Attorney for their team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with in public service to utilize your skills and experience for the betterment of the County office. Responsibilities:
• Provide legal advice and representation to various departments including the County Board of County Commissioners, the County Sheriff's Office, and other departments.
• Handle legal research and writing tasks, preparing legal briefs and memoranda on complex legal topics.
• Assist with evaluation of litigation filed against the Sheriff's Office, including providing research support and assisting with discovery.
• Draft contracts, policies, correspondence, and other documents requiring legal expertise.
• Respond to subpoenas for records, criminal justice record requests, and open records requests.
• Represent the Sheriff's Office in court proceedings when necessary.
• Monitor developments in law, including proposed legislation and court decisions.
• Review policies, procedures, and training for legal compliance.
• Conduct interviews with clients, prepare witnesses, and handle other details in preparation for court.
• Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for assigned officials, department heads, or law enforcement agencies.alf
Requirements
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Attorney/Lawyer is required.
• Proficiency in using Case Management Software for handling legal cases is needed.
• Demonstrable experience with Document Management in a legal setting is essential.
• Skills in Briefing and presenting legal cases are necessary.
• Experience in Civil Litigation and Claim Administration is required.
• Proven ability to handle complaints in a detail-oriented and efficient manner is needed.
• Civil Litigation Experience, preferably in a fast-paced environment, is required.
• Trial Experience is necessary, with a strong record of successful case outcomes.
• Knowledge and experience in Criminal Law is required.
