What you will do

Volvo Group’s mission is to be an industry leader in Connected Services and as a Complete Vehicle Feature Engineer, you will play a vital role in making that happen! You will be a resident specialist responsible for Complete Vehicle on-board and fleet Connected Services, ensuring that Volvo and Mack Trucks exceeds customer expectations. This will include communicating customer expectations (via requirements and target setting) to Brands, Product Planning, & Engineering, as well as evaluating system/component designs, vehicle integration, and ensuring Verification and Validation plans fulfil Feature development objectives.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Feature Roadmap and strategic alignment to Product & technical solution roadmap with VE/PE Product Management, Brands, and Product Planning.

  • Transpose Project Wanted Position (PWP) into measurable requirements.

  • Generate Connected Services Requirements based PWP and customer expectations.

  • Lead discussions with Engineering, PPL, and Brands to communicate and balance requirements.

  • Create, define, and anchor Feature Contracts.

  • Assist PMO in the development of PDP (Product Delivery Plan) with requirements and correlation to verification & validation methods.

  • Collaborate with Vehicle Engineering & complete vehicle test engineers to:

  • Transpose validation feedback and competitive benchmarking to develop requirements & test methods

  • Correlate Feature risk to verification & validation test plans.

  • Generate Feature analysis, estimate risk of feature deliveries, and anticipated vehicle & fleet performance.

  • Responsible for vehicle level Connected Services Verification and Validation Plan (V&V)

  • Collaborate with Vehicle Engineering to review System & Component Designs, TRs and FMEAs to ensure vehicle concepts meet Feature requirements.

  • Update and maintain Complete Vehicle FMEA based on scope of Design changes, Risk to Customer, and Test Detection.

  • Drive discussions between Test Engineers, Component Owners, and PMO to communicate test purpose/goals, procedure, set-up, and execution.

  • Write descriptive test work orders based on Connnected Services V&V needs.

  • Lead Quality focused PIL resolution with System & Component owners.

  • Responsible for vehicle level Connected Services Feature Review report out at project gates.

  • Conduct an objective evaluation of the feature and deliver feature status reports before the gates' opening & part releases, including approvals or proposals and requests for modifications.

  • Evaluation of Feature performance compared to legacy and competitor vehicles.

  • Participate and provide Feature input in Engineering Design and DFMEA reviews.

  • Participate in the Global Feature and Local Feature Team Networks (CoP – Community of Practice).

You are a highly skilled and experienced engineer with a passion for driving the success of the product. Requirements:

  • Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

  • 8-12+ years engineering experience

  • 5-10year experience in Automotive Industry

  • Proven competency in Data Analysis, Python, CAN analyzer, M-logger, Vehicle Connected Services, Telematics Gateway, infotainment systems, App development, Nomadic Device Pairing, Back Office HW/SW Communication

  • Previous experience with the usage of quality tools (FMEA, Pugh Matrix, Reactive Problem Solving, Fishbone, DFSS, A3, DFA, DFAM, etc.)

Preferred:

  • Previous experience Test Engineer experience with telematics gateway, TGW, back-office communication, and/or infotainment.

  • Expertise in technical Product Development and requirement definition.

  • Current CDL holder or ability to obtain.
