This job supervises and leads the daily operations of an assigned Fitness Program (e.g., General Fitness, Kid sports). This job supervises, plans, and organizes all program functions including camp functions, camp development, staffing, staff development/training, and purchasing. The team lead coordinates the implementation of policies and procedures required for success; maintains and high employee morale; and instills confidence with our customers.

Education

Required - High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred - Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science or a related field

Work Experience

Required - 1 years of fitness, youth, or wellness performance program management experience.

*A Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science or a related field will be accepted in lieu of 1 year of experience.

Certifications

Required - Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.

  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of exercise physiology, anatomy and physiology, and biomechanics.

  • Knowledge of performance, wellness and fitness program management principles, including program development, operations, finance, audit, personnel and resource management.

  • Working knowledge of financial statements with the ability to manage within a budget, analyze trends and make recommendations.

  • Ability to work collaboratively.

  • Strong deductive reasoning skills needed to anticipate issues that adversely impact the function of the department and to solve problems.

  • Excellent decision-making, delegating, and technical writing skills.

  • Self-directed with the ability to work well under pressure, meeting project deadlines, working independently, setting priorities, and maintaining complete confidentiality.

  • Ability to work flexible hours.

  • Must be dependable with the ability to adherence to organizations dress code policy.

Job Duties

  • Assists in training and development of staff in delivering outstanding customer service.

  • Maintains and documents records.

  • Follows up on previous and on-going projects.

  • Supports Program in all operational performance matters department wide.

  • Provides supervision, instruction, and ongoing assistance to program employees, campers, and volunteers.

  • Coordinates activities for campers.

  • Communicates employee, parent or camper concerns to leadership.

  • Other related duties as required.

Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible. NOTE: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.

Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue and as part of their employment, incumbents are not called upon to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid.

The incumbent has no occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases.
