Job Summary

Serves as the resource and referral training specialist for the Mississippi Early Childhood Inclusion Center: Professional Development Grant Birth to Five. Provides information to early childhood educators and families seeking information while providing support to MECIC.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducts professional development and consumer education programs for MECIC: R&R, including development and organization of professional development programs.

  • Develops action plans and coaching for early childhood educators who utilize materials and supports at MECIC: R&R.

  • Operates the MECIC: R&R Lending Library, providing technical assistance to ensure appropriate materials and supports are provided to families and educators who utilize materials and supports.

  • Interfaces with statewide stakeholders, developing and disseminating information and resources to stakeholders, families and educators through community outreach and on-going collaboration with local agencies.

  • Collects and inputs data in designated databases for MECIC: PDG.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education, Child and Family Sciences, or Early Childhood Special Education and 1 to 3 years related experience and/or training in early childhood inclusion.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Adept in Microsoft Office.

  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.

  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines.

  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends, as necessary.

  • Resourceful and determined to provide a positive experience for others.

  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to be compassionate and empathetic while working with a diverse population.

  • Must maintain currency on relevant research, professional certifications, and continuing education.
