JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Title: Staff Accountant Reports To: Chief Financial Officer FLSA Status: Exempt Annual Contract: Full-time 52 Weeks Rate of Pay: Dependent on Qualifications Posting Date: January 23, 2025 Application Deadline: February 6, 2025 Start Date: As soon as possible In-Person - Not Remote General Position Summary: The staff accountant is responsible for performing various accounting tasks, including creating, entering, and approving general ledger entries, completing account reconciliations, processing accounts payable, managing expense reports, and generating ad hoc financial reporting as requested by CFO. In addition to primary duties, this individual will serve as a backup to the lead accountant, assisting in more complex accounting tasks and providing support during their absence. The ideal candidate will have recent accounting software experience, a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate with team members across departments. Key Responsibilities: Prepare, process, and maintain accounts payable to include, but not limited to: o Process 1099-NEC o Enter invoices/process vendor payments o Maintain vendor files o Enter requisitions/create purchase orders Procure supplies through online accounts Compile internal/external receipts for deposit Assist with college-wide travel and reconciling of employee travel advances Produce monthly reports Prepare and maintain general ledger entries and account reconciliations Assist with month-end and year-end close and annual audit preparation Analyze and review accounting data for accuracy and resolve discrepancies as necessary Evaluate current methods and processes for future development Support other department staff as needed Perform other assigned duties as requested by supervisor or College President Reportability: Chief Financial Officer ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Qualifications: Associate degree in Accounting or related field and three (3) years accounting/bookkeeping experience with firm understanding of basic accounting principles or Six years accounting/bookkeeping experience with firm understanding of basic accounting principles ***** APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: Other: Application Process: Application Deadline: Until Filled Please submit either hard or electronic copy of a cover letter, an updated resume, unofficial transcripts, and a completed LCO Ojibwe University job application (available online at www.lco.edu/hr) to the address directly below.
