Sysco Senior Manager, Finance - Sales & Marketing in HOUSTON, Texas

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Manager, Finance – Sales & Marketing will be a key strategic partner to the Field Sales, Marketing, and GSC teams providing financial leadership and analytical support to drive business growth and operational efficiency. This role will oversee financial planning, reporting, and analysis related to Field Sales, Sales & Marketing Expense, and Sales Strategy. The ideal candidate will have a curiosity around data, as well as a strong background in financial modeling, forecasting, and ROI analysis. This role will work cross-functionally across the US broadline business to influence outcomes and optimize performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes for Sales & Marketing Expense, and key Corporate Expense functions.

  • Sales & Marketing Strategy Support: Provide financial insights and recommendations to Field Sales leadership to optimize sales growth, marketing effectiveness, profitability, and return on investment.

  • Expense Management: Develop and monitor key metrics related to sales, marketing, and corporate expenses, ensuring cost controls and efficiency improvements.

  • Decision Support & Business Partnering: Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and GSC leadership teams to drive data-driven decision-making and identify opportunities for revenue growth and expense optimization.

  • ROI Analysis: Evaluate sales and marketing initiatives, campaigns, and corporate investments to determine financial feasibility and expected returns. Provide post-campaign analysis to measure effectiveness and improve future investments.

  • Variance Analysis & Reporting: Conduct monthly and quarterly financial reviews, analyzing performance against plan, identifying risks and opportunities, and presenting findings to senior leadership.

  • Investment Analysis: Assess and provide recommendations on marketing programs, sales initiatives, and corporate investments to enhance financial performance.

  • Process Improvement & Automation: Enhance financial reporting tools, systems, and processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, and accessibility of financial data.

  • Compliance & Governance: Ensure adherence to corporate financial policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (MBA or CPA preferred).

  • 7+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis, preferably supporting sales, marketing, corporate expenses, or strategic initiatives.

  • Proven track record of influencing senior stakeholders and driving financial performance improvements.

  • Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic corporate environment, preferably in a Fortune 500 or high-growth company.

  • Strong technical skills: knowledge of financial reporting software including BPC preferred.

TECHNICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Financial Expertise: Deep understanding of financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting methodologies, with a strong grasp of financial statement analysis.

  • Analytical & Strategic Thinking: Ability to translate complex financial data into actionable business insights and recommendations.

  • ROI Analysis: Experience in measuring and evaluating return on investment for marketing campaigns, sales initiatives, and corporate expenditures.

  • Systems & Tools: Proficiency in financial systems (SAP, BPC, Oracle, Hyperion, or similar), as well as advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills. Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.

  • Business Acumen: Strong understanding of sales operations, marketing expense management, corporate expense management, and financial decision-making.

  • Communication & Influence: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial insights effectively to senior leadership.

  • Problem-Solving: Proactive approach to identifying issues, developing solutions, and driving continuous improvement in financial processes.

  • Team Leadership & Collaboration: Experience managing and developing finance teams, as well as working cross-functionally with various business units.
