Job Title: Trailer Mechanic

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Trailer Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, changing brakes, tires, lights, troubleshooting and repairing ABS systems, mud flaps, and conducting DOT inspections. This role also involves diagnosing electrical issues, conducting both external and internal engine repairs, and performing minor welding repairs. Additionally, candidates may have administrative duties and occasionally need to drive to pick up parts. The trailers you will work on include RGN, Low Boys, Detachable, flatbeds, step decks, removable gooseneck trailers, new van trailers, and heavy haul trailers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on trailers

  • Change brakes, tires, and lights

  • Troubleshoot and repair ABS systems and mud flaps

  • Conduct DOT inspections

  • Diagnose and repair electrical issues

  • Perform external and internal engine repairs

  • Conduct minor welding repairs

  • Handle paperwork and administrative duties

  • Drive occasionally to pick up parts

  • Work on RGN, Low Boys, Detachable, flatbeds, step decks, removable gooseneck trailers, new van trailers, and heavy haul trailers

Essential Skills

  • 5 years of experience working on trailers, trucks, small motors, and performing preventative maintenance

  • Experience with air brakes, air suspensions, ABS (anti-lock braking systems), hydraulics, and tires

  • Valid driver's license

  • 3-5 years of welding experience

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with small engine repair

  • Experience with automated maintenance systems

  • Willingness to train on state inspections

Work Environment

You will work in a shop environment where steel-toed boots are required. The work is primarily indoors, but you may need to go in and out of the shop, so dress accordingly. The role may require driving a pickup truck to pick up parts from the store. The position is on the first shift, starting at 7 am and ending around 3:30-4 pm, with overtime as needed. Candidates must bring their own tools.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, Texas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr.
