Job Overview

The Staff Accountant for Systems Control will provide accounting expertise to ensure the timely and accurate processing and reporting of accounting and financial transactions including payroll-related transactions and will assist with implementing processes that ensure strong internal controls. This position will require an individual who has a solid understanding of the fundamentals of accounting, accounting process and system improvements and internal controls. This role will support Systems Control and will be based in Iron Mountain, MI.

A Day In The Life

  • Perform monthly payroll processing and assist with pending ADP transition

  • Perform month-end close routines, including preparing journal entries and preparing account reconciliations in Blackline

  • Perform SOX controls as assigned and assist with internal and external audits

  • Ensure compliance with existing company policies and procedures

  • Assess proper accounting treatment in accordance with GAAP

  • Provides research, analysis and support for other tasks, as requested.

  • Assist with physical inventories of Fixed assets and Inventory

  • Provide support to maintain costing for projects and inventory

  • Other special projects as necessary

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

  • 1-3 years of accounting, and related experience

  • Knowledge of Syteline, SAP, ADP, and Blackline are a plus.

  • Payroll experience

  • Project Accounting experience

  • Highly organized with an ability to work well under tight time constraints and simultaneously manage multiple tasks.

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
