Parker Aerospace is seeking a highly motivated Principal Data Scientist to develop predictive maintenance and flight analytics models that improve aircraft reliability, maintenance planning, and operational performance.
This role will focus on machine learning model lifecycle management, from development and deployment to versioning and performance monitoring. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in large-scale data engineering, statistical modeling, and machine learning, with experience in Azure-based cloud solutions and Databricks.
Additionally, this role will be responsible for developing and standardizing data science processes, methodologies, and best practices to ensure scalability, consistency, and alignment with engineering objectives.
This is a highly technical role, primarily supporting engineering teams. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with large datasets, integrating models into engineering decision-making, and optimizing model performance over time.
This person should champion and be an advocate for the application of data science in aerospace and its use on product improvement and prognostics.
Scope/Supervision & Interaction: _ Has Direct Reports _X Does Not Have Direct Reports
Predictive Maintenance & Reliability Analytics:
Develop ML models for predicting component failures, optimizing maintenance schedules, and minimizing downtime.
Work with engineering teams to improve fault detection, degradation monitoring, and fleet analytics.
Machine Learning Model Lifecycle Management:
Develop and deploy models in Microsoft Azure and Databricks, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
Implement model versioning, tracking, and retraining pipelines.
Monitor model performance, accuracy, and drift, ensuring continuous improvement.
Data Engineering & Infrastructure:
Design large-scale data pipelines for processing and analyzing sensor data, flight logs, and maintenance records.
Work with Azure Databricks for distributed data processing and feature engineering.
Ensure data quality, preprocessing, and efficient storage solutions for ML applications.
Development of Data Science Processes & Standards:
Establish best practices for model development, deployment, and monitoring.
Develop standardized workflows for data collection, preprocessing, and feature engineering.
Define quality assurance processes for AI/ML models, including validation, testing, and interpretability standards.
Create documentation and guidelines to ensure repeatability and consistency across data science projects.
Deployment & Integration:
Deploy ML models into Azure environments using Databricks, Azure ML, and cloud-based pipelines.
Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate models into decision-support systems.
Visualization & Communication:
Present data-driven insights to engineering leadership and technical teams.
Develop visualizations and dashboards using Power BI or Databricks-native tools to monitor model outputs.

Technical Skills:
Experience developing predictive maintenance and reliability models, preferably in industrial applications.
Strong proficiency in Azure ML and Databricks for machine learning development and deployment.
Experience designing data pipelines and large-scale data processing workflows.
Knowledge of time-series analysis, anomaly detection, and statistical modeling.
Strong SQL and Python skills for working with large datasets in a cloud environment.
Experience implementing model versioning, tracking, and monitoring frameworks.
Experience developing standardized workflows and best practices for data science initiatives.
Soft Skills & Collaboration:
Works closely with engineering teams to align data science solutions with technical requirements.
No direct mentorship responsibilities yet but expected to be a key technical contributor.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data insights into actionable recommendations for engineering teams.
Ability to travel 10% - 20% as required for collaboration with engineering teams and industry partners.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field. Master’s, or PhD preferred.
10+ years of experience in predictive modeling, machine learning, and data science.
Strong experience with Azure ML and Databricks for building and deploying ML solutions.
Work Authorization:
This position is subject to meeting U.S. export compliance and/or U.S Government contracting citizenship eligibility requirements.
Please note that the salary range information is only applicable for California. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location as well as market and business considerations. Pay Range: $117,553.94 - $205,782.16.
