Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Assistant to join our client's team at a dynamic manufacturing plant. This role is vital to ensuring smooth financial operations and accuracy across inventory, purchase orders, and reconciliations. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment and should feel comfortable working within the plant daily to address and resolve various accounting-related issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Support:
Assist in conducting physical inventory counts to ensure alignment with financial records and operational data.
Maintain accurate inventory records and reconcile discrepancies identified during counts.
Collaborate with plant staff to investigate and resolve inventory-related issues.
Purchase Order Management:
Review and process purchase orders (POs) to ensure accuracy in pricing, quantities, and terms.
Address and resolve discrepancies or issues with POs in collaboration with vendors and internal departments.
Monitor approval workflows and maintain proper PO documentation.
Reconciliation Tasks:
Perform regular account reconciliations, including inventory accounts and vendor statements.
Investigate and resolve variances related to transactions, POs, or general accounting entries.
Assist in month-end and year-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
Plant Support:
Work closely with plant personnel to address accounting-related inquiries or issues.
Spend time in noisy and active plant areas daily to gather information or resolve on-the-ground concerns.
Act as a liaison between the plant operations team and the accounting department to streamline communication.
Requirements
Associate degree or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (or equivalent relevant experience).
1–3 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing or similar environment preferred.
Familiarity with basic accounting principles (accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory reconciliation).
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems is highly desirable.
Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with cross-functional teams.
Comfort working in a loud and active plant environment on a daily basis.
