Innovation Associates, Inc. Industrial Test Engineer in Johnson City, New York

The Role:

As an Industrial Test Engineer, you will play a key role in both New Product Development (NPD) cycles and the Continuous Improvement (CI) of existing products. You will collaborate closely with product engineers and data analysts to develop and monitor performance metrics across various customers. These insights will drive CI initiatives, enhance product quality, and ensure optimal performance in real-world applications.

What you’ll do:

  • Design, conduct, and document experiments such as Accelerated Life Tests (ALT) and Verification & Validation (V&V) testing, analyzing results using statistical methods to drive data-informed decisions.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define New Product Development (NPD) testing strategies, review test cases, identify QA risks, and enhance product quality and efficiency.

  • Lead and facilitate Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) initiatives in a cross-functional environment; develop Fault Tree Analyses (FTA) and Cause-Effect Diagrams to support problem-solving efforts.

  • Investigate and recreate dispensing system issues and other reported system errors in collaboration with Product and Engineering teams; document findings to inform future NPD initiatives.

  • Evaluate and approve components and peripherals for engineering changes and new applications; work closely with vendors to resolve product issues and obtain relevant product data.

  • Monitor customer performance metrics, identify trends using statistical analysis, and collaborate with Field Service Engineers (FSE) to gather detailed performance insights.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.

  • Ability to obtain ASQ Six-Sigma Green Belt certification within six months of hire.

  • Proficient in SQL Server and knowledgeable in Design of Experiments (DOE) and Reliability concepts.

  • Proven experience in performing tasks independently, with a strong track record of problem-solving and decision-making.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify root causes and drive solutions.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience creating, composing, and editing technical materials.

  • Skilled in developing and maintaining recordkeeping systems and procedures.

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 8 weeks per year to support field operations and customer needs.

Even better if you have:

  • ASQ Six Sigma Green Belt certification.

  • At least 1 year of experience in a Verification & Validation (V&V) role.

  • Hands-on experience with Six Sigma tools and techniques to drive process improvements.

  • Practical experience conducting Accelerated Life Tests (ALT) to assess product reliability.

  • Familiarity with Autodesk Inventor, Dassault Systèmes, or SolidWorks for product design and analysis.

Compensation:

The estimated base annual salary range for this position is $69,357.60 to $95,366.70, though a candidate's base annual salary shall be determined on a range of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications and experience. This position may additionally be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
