Warren County Park District Golf Maintenance Technician I in Lebanon, Ohio

Summary / Position Goal: Under the direction of the Golf Course Superintendent, performs assigned tasks involved with the care and maintenance of the golf courses and related facilities, including park facilities. Performs turf maintenance functions and operates equipment such as tractors, riding mowers, hand mowers, weed eaters, edgers, blowers, and related equipment as assigned. Works to ensure the best possible golf experience to all customers. Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities -- Essential Functions: • Mowing, weed eating, landscape work and tree work. Removes litter from the course and ensures a clean and organized work environment. May perform other duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization. • Inform supervisors or proper staff person of job problems, broken equipment, building damage, potential safety violations, and to inform supervisor that certain tasks were not completed before accepting new assignment. • Responsible for safe operation of all equipment and safe practices on the job site, care and upkeep on tools, carts, and mowing equipment. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods indoors and outdoors, under a variety of weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs. • Ability to safely and efficiently operate various types of grounds maintenance equipment applicable to a golf setting. • Ability to carry out and understand oral and written instructions. • Knowledge of the game of golf, including rules and golf etiquette. • Ability to maintain a professional, cooperative working relationship with other staff members and volunteers. Exhibits a "can do" positive attitude which maximizes the efficient utilization of all available resources to accomplish assigned tasks. • Basic computer ability. • Ability to follow Park District policies as applicable. • Ability to effectively, efficiently, and safely complete assigned tasks in a timely manner. Required Education and Experience: • High school diploma or GED. • Valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record allowing insurability by the Park District's current vehicle insurance carrier under existing coverage provisions at the time of employment and thereafter is required. Preferred Additional Education and Experience: • Prior related experience in facilities, equipment, golf course or grounds maintenance is preferred. Work Environment & Schedule: Employment in this position is part-time seasonal, with work hours scheduled as needed, not to exceed 29 hours per week. This is a limited-term position for the 2024 Golf Course season only. The season is generally April 1 -- October 31. Work schedule is generally 6:00AM to 2:30PM, Monday through Friday, with the potential for some occasional weekend or holiday work. Ability to work in all outside weather conditions; wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold (below 32 F degrees) and extreme heat (above 90 F degrees). Ability to work around various outdoor contaminants and airborne and plant allergens. Some work assignments and tasks will require exposure to and work in inclement weather conditions. Physical Demands: General good health and ability to perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear. The employee will regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (i.e. beverage cases or kegs).
