What youll do:
Youll assist in the supervision of the Cook II and be responsible for the preparation of facility meals in accordance with pre-planned menus, in compliance with MTC and Immigration and customer directives.
Essential Functions:
- Supervise and monitor work of cooks and food service workers, which includes long periods of sitting and standing.
- Prepare and cook quantity of food required according to menu and number of detainees.
- Maintain kitchen equipment in orderly workable condition. Ensure work area is safe, clean and sanitary at all times.
- Prepare foods as directed for special facility functions and visitors.
- Assist in cleaning kitchen work areas following each meal.
- Maintain the count and control of knives and other controlled kitchen tools. Provide a count of all control items at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
- Maintain accountability of staff, detainees and property; adhere to safety practices.
It is expected the incumbent will perform other duties as assigned within his/her scope of work determined by management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent, food service training, and two (2) years of food service experience required. Valid food handlers permit required, if required by the state of Texas. Valid driver's license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
Post Hire Requirements:
Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements and maintain appropriate facility clearance.
