Great Lakes Asset Solutions Staff Accountant in Lockport, New York

Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant with strong expertise in QuickBooks Online and a solid understanding of accounting principles. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with month-end close processes, and supporting the accounting departments daily operations.
Key Responsibilities: * Manage and record daily financial transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO), ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. * Monitor accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely invoices and payment processing. * Process vendor invoices, including verifying approvals, coding expenses, and entering them into QBO. * Schedule and process payments to vendors via checks, ACH, or wire transfers. * Reconcile accounts payable ledger to ensure all bills and payments are accounted for and properly posted. * Assist with 1099 preparation and filing for contractors. * Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial records. * Assist in the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and internal reports. * Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and accruals. * Analyze financial data to identify discrepancies, resolve issues, and recommend improvements. * Maintain fixed asset schedules and assist with depreciation calculations. * Collaborate with the team to streamline processes and improve efficiency. * Assist with audits and special projects as needed. * Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors, customers, and other departments. * Assist with training and onboarding of new team members or interns. * Maintain confidentiality of financial data and uphold ethical standards.
Qualifications: * Education: Bachelors degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. * Experience: 2+ years of accounting experience, with demonstrated proficiency in QuickBooks Online. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. * Solid understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). * Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with other accounting software is a plus. * Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines. * Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Skills: * Experience with financial reporting and budget preparation. * Familiarity with automation tools such as SaaAnt, Bill.com or Dext.
