UCLA Health Occupational Therapist - Hand Therapy in Los Angeles, California
Description
Seeking an Occupational Therapist with a strong background and clinical expertise in hand therapy with varying patient demographics from adolescents to geriatrics. Primary functions are to provide applicable occupational therapy care for patients with various hand, wrist and elbow diagnoses in a fast-paced outpatient setting. Major duties include: patient evaluation and treatment including producing custom made splints and orthoses, electronic medical record documentation, maintain expected productivity levels (including special assignments), special projects and duties as assigned. The primary function is patient care, unless otherwise specified.
Salary
range: 48.52-63.91 hourly
Qualifications
Required
California Occupational Therapy License or eligibility to work as such.
Current BCLS Certificate.
Experience with hand therapy including production of custom-made splints and orthoses.
Strong communication skills and ability to work autonomously as well as part of a collaborative team.
Ability to effectively communicate with patients and staff from varied cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Skill in making appropriate and effective decisions based on needs of the patient, priorities of the department, and the Medical Center and Department Policies and Procedures. Demonstrates ability to establish an appropriate treatment plan, select appropriate treatment techniques, assess the results based upon synthesis of all available information, and the patients' functional goals, with changes in the plan and timely discharge as indicated.
Ability to safely perform repetitive bending, stooping, sitting, squatting, walking, standing during 8-10 hr. day. Normal duties involve lifting (up to 35 pounds without equipment), transferring patients, and pushing wheelchairs up to 500 feet.
Ability to assign and supervise the performance of appropriate treatment within the technical and legal capabilities of support personnel.
Preferred
Certified Hand Therapist certification.
