Job Title: Welder

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled welder who can proficiently perform MIG welding. The ideal candidate will be able to multitask and work between welding and other areas of our fabrication department. The welder will work from engineering drawings and Bill of Materials to fabricate and weld components, adjusting the welder as needed to accommodate varying thicknesses of steel. You will operate a variety of tools and equipment, including welders, grinders, drills, hand/power tools, measuring devices, overhead cranes, and forklifts (if certified). This role involves both Panel Welding and Tank Welding, with the latter requiring more complex vertical, horizontal, and overhead welding techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG welding tasks.

  • Multitask between welding and other fabrication areas.

  • Work from engineering drawings and Bill of Materials to fabricate and weld components.

  • Adjust welder settings for varying thicknesses of steel.

  • Operate welders, grinders, drills, hand/power tools, and measuring devices.

  • Operate overhead cranes and forklifts if certified.

  • Perform basic straight-line welding for Panel Welding.

  • Perform vertical, horizontal, and overhead welding for Tank Welding.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in MIG welding.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

  • Experience in fabrication.

  • Capability to operate overhead cranes and forklifts (if certified).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • D1-1 certification required for Tank Welders.

  • D1-3 certification is a bonus.

  • Experience with heavy gauge, galvanized steel processes.

Work Environment

Our facility operates three shifts for Panel Welders: 1st Shift (5:00 AM – 1:30 PM with overtime), and 3rd Shift (6:00 PM – 2:30 AM with overtime until 4:30 AM). Tank Welders work on 1st Shift (5:00 AM – 1:30 PM with overtime) and 3rd Shift (6:00 PM – 2:30 AM with overtime). The work environment is clean, and all necessary tools will be provided. During the summer, the facility is well-ventilated with doors open to ensure comfort.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Machesney Park, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $26.45/hr.
