Job Summary
A Maintenance Technician IV - Automation, is primarily responsible for the operation, troubleshooting and control of building management systems/equipment in accordance with required operating specifications. The incumbent will also be responsible for performing detailed maintenance (PM/CM) on BAS related controls equipment. The individual in this role will operate, assemble, install, calibrate, troubleshoot, dismantle, and repair all types of domestic, commercial, and industrial control equipment associated to; HVAC, Refrigeration, Chiller/Cooling Tower, Electrical, and other plant mechanical equipment. The role incumbent will be responsible for conducting work in accordance with company safety protocols
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operating Building Automation Systems (BAS) and equipment control systems
Responsible for operation of computer-based HVAC control systems to include the ability to comprehend HVAC concepts in relation to; interpretation of controls drawings/plans/specifications, pneumatic controls, electrical concepts, and other physical plant/building mechanical equipment operation/maintenance.
Responsible for conducting air exchange/balancing within the vivarium/laboratory spaces to ensure proper air flow patterns.
Basic knowledge and the ability to comprehend system programming, software, validation, calibration processes and system networking.
Provides training to other technicians with respect to operation of BAS systems and processes to maintain the systems in compliance with company standards, procedures, and government regulations (SOPs, BOPs, GLPs, etc).
Serves as a direct customer contact, provides training and sustains customer satisfaction by investigating concerns, implementing corrective action, communicating with staff and providing customer feedback.
Collaborates with senior colleagues for priority assessment and decision making as it relates to troubleshooting, diagnostics, assembly, repair, and a proactive maintenance of systems and equipment in a cost-effective manner.

Job Qualifications
Education:
HS/GED with 5 years' experience; or associate's degree with 2-5 years' experience in a commercial or industrial setting.
Must be certified as a "Universal" technician as required by 40 CFR part 82, subpart F through the Proper Refrigerant Practices Program approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Previous Building Automation System (BAS) experience or technical training preferred.
Experience:
Demonstrates working knowledge of computer-based HVAC control systems, pneumatic controls, electrical concepts, and other physical plant/building mechanical equipment.
Good communication and organizational skills as well as the ability to interact with all levels of the CRL organization. Can articulate issues and solutions to the team. Can produce effective project reports and presentations.
Position requires daily or common interaction with Facilities Engineering Team, Facilities Maintenance Team Management, Laboratory/Production Stakeholders, Facilities Maintenance Technicians, Contractors, and Vendors.
Can analyze problems and provide support in determining appropriate corrective and preventative actions, with minimal assistance.
Capable of simultaneously managing multiple assignments.
Computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite), commensurate with essential duties, including the ability to learn a validated system.
Capable of documentation of all work in designated CMMS software.
Ability to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to evenings, weekends, extended shifts, and/or extra shifts; sometimes on short notice
Ability to work under specific time constraints
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
