Description
This position is required to lead a shift of non-exempt employees through the daily operations and processes found in a manufacturing environment. This role will meet pre-established schedules by fostering employee involvement to achieve the highest level of safety, productivity and quality standards. Area Managers are accountable for leading, training, coaching and motivating a team to improve safety and quality, reduce cost, and deliver the highest level of customer service. Responsible for maximizing direct labor efficiency and controlling material usage.
Efficiency Goals (80%)
Key goal: Oversee assigned department to ensure Resources and/or required equipment are running efficiently.
Manage scheduled priorities and capacity to achieve the highest customer service level.
Prepare and lead line start-up and assign production line tasks.
Manage and maintain Inventory Accuracy through the TECO Process
Monitor production levels, direct labor utilization, and component usage; prepare activity reports.
Achieve departmental goals and drive results through effective communication, collaboration and accountability
Develop talent to full potential through training, consistent feedback and coaching
Evaluating performance of employees, make recommendations for improvement, and utilize the corrective action process
Facilitate team meetings and forums to share information
Perform all other duties as assigned which may become necessary to support departmental/organizational objectives
Provide feedback and recommendations on material flow and equipment changes/installations
Continuous Improvement Goals (20%)
Key goal: Use LEAN tools to solve daily efficiency issues
Assist with leading departmental strategy, innovation and continuous improvement while embracing change
Engage the team and take a leadership role in the implementation of Lean tools (5S, Value Stream Mapping, Problem Solving, OEE, etc.)
Environmental Health and Safety goals (At All Times)
Key goal: Eliminate accidents. Mentor line personnel to support this goal. Ensure our environmental goals are being met.
Monitor and insure a safe work environment through process adherence and hazard elimination/mitigation (PPE, Lockout/Tag-out, Machine Guarding, etc.) and hazard elimination/mitigation
Monitor and insure a safe work environment through process adherence
Proactively identify and resolve safety and ergonomic concerns for their line.
Mentor crew members to utilize proper ergonomic related equipment (Drum lifter...).
Engage in site wide safety programs
Produce High Quality finished goods (At All Times)
Key goal: Produce products that meet all quality expectations and eliminate rejections.
Understand, monitor, and ensure compliance to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and adherence to defined procedures
Assign line tasks per productivity guidelines and communicate all quality instructions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills
Dynamic and analytical approach to problem solving and identification, solution and efficiency improvements.
Bachelor's Degree required- Management, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineer, and Mfg. Engineering degree preferred
1-2 years of preferred Supply Chain/Manufacturing experience
Must demonstrate a desire and ability to lead other people
May be required to handle containers of hazardous waste.
Candidate must be able to work on any of the three shifts (day/evening/night)
Work additional shifts beyond the regular work week (weekend overtime, holiday overtime and “double shifts”) as required to support the needs of the business
Knowledge of MS office and SAP applications preferred
Required to have and maintain a good attendance record
