Job Title: Cabin Stress Engineer
Location: Mobile, Alabama – Hybrid mode 3 days a week in office. Job description:
Our Client’s, Cabin Stress provides development and certification services for all aircraft programs and all cabin components. This comprises pre-development activities and feasibility studies, architecture considerations, A-Z development and certification of cabin components as well as assessment of in-service occurrences.
The cabin components covered range from simple lightweight PSC panels to highly sophisticated F/C seat/suite installations and large units (like crew rest compartments and galleys).
In the scope of the above listed activities, the Cabin Stress Engineer acts as an integrator and interfaces between external suppliers / RSPs, (customers), internal ATA53 structure and Cabin program and engineering as well as the Office of Airworthiness and aircraft authorities.
Key responsibilities:
• Structural analysis: Conduct detailed stress analysis of cabin components like seats, walls, floors, overhead bins, and doors using finite element analysis (FEA) software to identify potential weak points and areas of high stress.
• Design optimization: Collaborate with cabin designers to optimize cabin layouts and materials to minimize weight while maintaining structural integrity and maximizing passenger comfort.
• Load calculations: Resolve expected loads on the cabin structure due to factors like turbulence, landing impact, and passenger movement, incorporating these loads into the stress analysis.
• Certification compliance: Ensure cabin designs meet all relevant aviation safety regulations and certification requirements for structural integrity.
• Testing and validation: Review and interpret results from physical testing of cabin components to verify the accuracy of stress analysis predictions.
• Material selection: Select appropriate materials for cabin components based on their strength, weight, and environmental resistance.
• Problem-solving: Identify and solve potential structural issues during design and development, proposing solutions to address concerns
Required Skills
Strong engineering background: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering with a focus on structural analysis.
• FEA expertise: Proficiency in advanced FEA software like ANSYS, Abaqus, or Nastran to perform sophisticated structural simulations.
• CAD proficiency: Familiarity with 3D CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks) for model creation and analysis.
• Aviation regulations knowledge: Understanding of FAA, EASA, or other relevant aviation standards and certification requirements.
• Analytical skills: Ability to interpret complex data, analyze stress distributions, and draw accurate conclusions.
