Chenega Enterprise Systems & Solutions, LLC., a Chenega Professional Services’ company, is looking for a Paralegal Easement Assistant to support the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) West Virginia State Office.

Responsibilities
Develop and maintain a working familiarity with state and Federal laws related to conservation easements and have a good understanding of real property law
Assist in researching and problem-solving issues related to conservation easements that have already closed
Assist in the review of deeds, title affidavits, title reports, title commitments, title insurance policies, and related documentation, for parcels enrolled in conservation easement programs
Review and analyze conservation easement program applications
Assist State Office personnel with processing documents and correspondence; draft/ edit non-legal memoranda, research reports, and correspondence to support decision-making
Check documents for accuracy and completeness; verify citations and legal references on prepared documents
Create and organize State Office files
Accompany NRCS staff to meetings upon request and record and report on the proceedings
Review case materials to become familiar with questions under consideration; search for and summarize relevant articles in trade magazines, law reviews, published studies, financial reports, and similar materials for use by NRCS staff in the preparation of opinions, briefs, and other legal document, and in support of decision-making
Qualifications
Background Check
Bachelor’s Degree and significant progress toward, or completion of, a professional degree in a legal field of study
Possess a valid state issued driver’s license
Must be able to report onsite, Monday- Friday
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Proficient in software applications, such as Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Strong file organization and administrative support skills.
Good verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
Obtain and understand tax tickets, tax maps, legal documents, country clerk records, andother court documents (e.g. deeds, leases, plats, easements, rights-of-way, wills, powers-of-attorney, deeds-of-trust, liens, etc)
Investigate real property using street, aerial, tax, and state/county road maps.
Able to analyze and plot legal descriptions using online sources and software.
Able to create and understand maps using online sources and software.
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) experience preferable.
Skilled in operating computer hardware and software, and office equipment
Knowledge of policies and procedures governing correspondence management
Able to pass a Government Security Clearance
