Job Summary and Qualifications

The Clinical Services Group (CSG) is responsible for the development and implementation of HCA’s Clinical Data and Analytics (CDA) data sourcing and data delivery programs as well as the expansion of business processes and performance related to HCA's Clinical Data Management Office’s (CDMO) Data and Data Engineering (DE) strategies.

This position is a corporate-level position that provides technical and operational support in the execution of clinical data systems that have impact in clinical areas. The position requires an in-depth understanding and appreciation for Clinical Information/data; its capabilities, limitations, and various ways of sourcing, processing, and delivering this data to internal customers.

In addition to a broad understanding of technology, this position also requires a detailed understanding of healthcare-based information technology, data acquisition, data parsing, data modeling, health information management, privacy and security. This position will be responsible for sourcing data from multiple locations, processing and parsing the data, and delivering the data to the CDA Product team’s business intelligence development teams. This individual will be part of a team of analytics engineers in the CSG CDMO.

Summary of Position:

The CDMO Analytics Engineer II position will support CDMO data from ETL, ELT, parsing, processing, modeling, through delivery to the CDA organization. This role will be responsible for creating ad hoc and standard reports for reviewing, analyzing, and validating clinical data. Additionally, the Analytics Engineer II will present and review enterprise data to business stakeholders in the form of reports, dashboards and other data delivery formats to meet operation requirements defined by the CDMO.

Duties and Responsibilities

•Assist in a standardized and consistent approach relating to CDMO sourcing and delivery of clinical data to CDA’s Business Intelligence (BI) and Analytics teams

•Become a subject matter expert in data extraction, processing, delivery, and logic development of the appropriate strategies, plans, tools and approaches to ensure successful implementation of BI reports, dashboards and scorecards by the CDA teams

•Works to think analytically and critically to participate in data standardization and automation efforts

•Present data formally and informally to facilitate discussion regarding data outputs

•Participate in multi-disciplinary teams to use clinical data in improving usage and operational workflow

•Ability to understand clinical data in order to develop and design data models to meet business requirements

•Obtain user/stakeholder feedback on usage activities to continuously improve CDMO output

•Use and support database applications and analytical tools, perform assigned duties to advance CDMO team workflow functions

•Build, run, interpret, and provide in depth “what if?” analysis of clinical data using CDMO available tools

•Other duties assigned as necessary, to support CDMO, CDA, and CSG

Qualifications

•Preferred prior HCA experience

•Self-starter/self-motivated and driven to exceed established goals

•Demonstrated extensive experience in both small- and large-scale development projects

•Demonstrated database design and development experience with solid understanding of relational and multi-dimensional designs

•Works independently with minimal guidance

•Ability to communicate and facilitate topics clearly and effectively across department lines; working inside peer groups and receiving guidance from supervisor

•Definitive analytic and problem-solving abilities are required core competencies

•Knows and applies the fundamental concepts and principles gained through experience to solve a range of both straightforward and complex problems

•Ability to mentor peers and colleagues based on knowledge and experience

•Expertise in SQL required

•Experience in data acquisition, data cleansing, and parsing required

•Knowledge of a structured development language like Python and R required

•Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required

•Excellent oral, written and technical communication skills required with a high focus on quality, and accuracy; professional presentation/public speaking skills and experience required

•Working knowledge and experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) tools including BigQuery highly preferred

•Demonstrated knowledge of clinical data within a healthcare system preferred

•Experience in data analysis, data modeling, data structures, and data visualization preferred

•Experience with PowerBI preferred

•Experience using JIRA preferred

•Experience using GitHub a plus

•Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment a plus

Education and Experience

•College degree or minimum 4 years of related work experience

•Related work experience must include 2 years of data/informatics experience

•Specific expertise and experience in the areas of data sourcing, delivery, and analytics required
