New York University Academic Director and Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor of Leadership and Management in New York, New York

The NYU School of Professional Studies seeks an Academic Director and Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor of Leadership and Management in the Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies, effective Summer 2025. (The rank of the faculty position will be determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.)

Reporting to the Associate Dean of Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies (DAUS), the Academic Director oversees the associate and bachelor degrees in Leadership and Management. The Academic Director will lead the faculty and draw support from the field to advance the program's academic mission. They will also work closely with the Assistant Dean to implement the program goals and vision and increase the program profile and visibility.

In this role, the director is responsible for, but not limited to, the following expectations-

● Leading and guiding adjunct faculty to achieve the program's academic goals and objectives successfully.

● Building and sustaining relationships with professionals and program graduates to grow program reputation and student opportunity.

● Designing and updating curricula to maintain course and program relevance and quality.

● Having proficiency in teaching and learning; experience working with professional studies programs is desired.

● Recruiting and mentoring adjunct faculty to encourage effective teaching and research.

In addition to the administration responsibilities, the Academic Director will also teach within Leadership and Management. This is a nine-month faculty appointment with a two-year renewable contract; the Academic Director role is a concurrent twelve-month administrative appointment. The preferred focus is in the real-world application in areas such as Management, Marketing, Organizational Behavior, Entrepreneurship, Health Care Management etc. This position includes teaching, scholarly work/creative production, and service expectations along with the responsibility to take an active role in curriculum development and delivery, building industry partnerships, advising students, and support in the development of offerings related to leadership and management.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $85,000 - $135,000. The range for the annual administrative stipend is $20,000, - $40,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

The successful candidate will possess advanced academic and professional credentials (Ph.D., or comparable advanced terminal degree) in one or more domains of Leadership and Management- preferably with a focus on Management, Marketing, Organizational Behavior, Entrepreneurship, Health Care Management etc. in real-world settings. The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years of substantial direct experience in leadership and management positions. Expertise and familiarity with the fields of one of the above mentioned areas are required. They will have at least three years of academic experience and effectiveness in higher education as well as experience working with or teaching diverse student populations.
