Frontier-Kemper-Tutor Perini joint venture was awarded the Manhattan Tunnel Project, part of the Hudson Tunnel Project (HTP). A $1.18 billion design-build contract from the Gateway Development Commission for the HTP which aims to enhance rail resiliency by adding two new tracks between New York and New Jersey and rehabilitating the storm-damaged North River Tunnel. The project includes designing and constructing twin 30-foot diameter, 700-foot-long tunnels under the Hudson River, connecting to existing tunnels beneath Hudson Yards, and an access shaft at 12th Avenue, later serving as a ventilation facility.

DESCRIPTION:
As an Assistant Quality Control Manager at Frontier-Kemper, reporting tothe Quality Control Manager, you will have the opportunity to:
Help develop, implement, and maintain the quality management plan for tunnel construction projects, ensuring alignment with company policies and industry standards.
Establish and enforce quality control procedures, guidelines, and best practices for all phases of tunnel construction.
Conduct regular inspections and audits of construction activities, materials, and processes to ensure compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements.
Identify non-conformities and coordinate corrective actions to address quality issues in a timely manner.
Maintain accurate records of quality control activities, including inspection reports, test results, and compliance documentation.
Prepare and present quality assurance reports to project stakeholders, highlighting key findings, trends, and recommendations for improvement.
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure quality requirements are understood and implemented.
Facilitate communication between project teams and regulatory agencies regarding quality assurance matters.
Help develop and conduct training programs for project personnel on quality control procedures, inspection techniques, and industry standards.
Mentor and guide junior quality control staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Identify potential quality risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize the impact on project outcomes.
Participate in project planning and review meetings to provide input on quality-related issues.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in quality control/assurance within the construction industry, with a focus on tunnel projects preferred.
Professional certifications such as Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or equivalent are preferred.
Proven experience managing quality assurance processes for large-scale construction projects.
Strong knowledge of quality control methodologies, tools, and techniques relevant to tunnel construction.
Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and codes.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively collaborating with diverse teams.
*Expected salary range for this position is $90,000 – $140,000 depending upon experience*
