NBC Universal Product Manager, Operational Insights in New York, New York

Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('SpinCo') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY, and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports, and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed in 2025.

NBCUniversal’s Advertising Platforms & Operations team is responsible for the product development, project management, and day-to-day operations of NBCUniversal’s full advertising technology suite. The division services both internal and external customers in support of NBCUniversal’s $10B+ annual advertising business.
The AP&O Business Intelligence team leverages data to empower our business customers with actionable insights that drive business performance and fosters a culture of data-driven decision-making. We are currently seeking a Product Manager to execute on a comprehensive roadmap supporting our customers across Ad Sales, Platform Monetization, Strategy, and Finance. This person will learn how data can inform our customers’ workflows, apply best-in-class technology solutions to enable access to data, drive efficiencies in business processes, facilitate proactive decision-making, and ensure a trusted and quality data experience. The ideal candidate is a highly collaborative individual who is passionate about media and advertising innovation, cares about customers, and understands the value of high-quality customer experiences.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Manager, Operational Insights, the person in this role will:
Build and maintain stakeholder relationships to identify business problems and translate them into product solutions.
Write SQL queries to answer urgent business questions and mine large datasets for novel insights.
Manage large-scale projects with multiple concurrent workstreams through the full product development lifecycle, from initial discovery and definition, through to testing, deployment, and post go-live support. Some example projects may include: The development of automated campaign pacing tools, complex schema mapping projects to onboard new data sources into our existing ontology, and the introduction of new algorithms for estimating available inventory.
Track project risks, assumptions, and dependencies, and keep customers informed on changes to scope and schedule.
Gather and synthesize detailed product requirements that align with strategic roadmaps
Spearhead integration of new data sources to enhance product capabilities.
Advocate for customer needs with product and engineering partners, ensuring products and their features are clearly understood and documented.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of business requirements and system logic to ensure alignment with latest implementations
Triage production issues, establish severity levels, and coordinate resolution with engineering teams.
Manage product risks and dependencies, communicating timeline and scope adjustments to stakeholders.
Create and manage enterprise reports and dashboards and assist in the design of scalable, high-availability data pipelines.
Provide subject matter expertise on how attributes and metrics in our reports are defined and sourced and assess the impact that changes to upstream systems may have on various business intelligence products.
Develop and maintain product documentation, including release notes, user guides, and process flows.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree minimum, or equivalent experience
2+ years of experience in product management or a related field.
Technical proficiency in SQL with demonstrated ability to independently write complex queries to develop reports and analyze large datasets.
A creative problem solver who can negotiate pragmatic, technically feasible solutions amid tight timelines and complex requirements.
Strong project management skills: able to take apart a complex project and prioritize its constituent tasks, map dependencies, and identify risks.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, vLookup, SumIf, conditional logic, etc.
Understanding of relational databases and data-intensive application design.
Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to juggle multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.
Resourceful and analytical with the ability to quickly identify trends and causality and independently solve problems.
Comfortable in cross-functional environments, collaborating with subject matter experts across various ad tech teams to analyze and document the system context of product requirements.
Experience with work management and documentation tools, preferably Jira and Confluence.
Proven ability to understand and communicate using technical language.
Desired Characteristics:
An understanding of Agile Scrum development principles and the software development lifecycle.
Working knowledge of business intelligence tools such as MicroStrategy, Tableau, Domo, Looker, Salesforce CRM Analytics, etc.
Demonstrated passion for streamlining operational efficiency and optimizing business processes.
Experience with advertising sales operations or ad tech.
Knowledge of and interest in machine learning and AI tools for data analysis and business intelligence.
Technically proficient in SQL with the ability to mine data and build POCs.
Experience implementing or utilizing AI-powered solutions to solve business problems is a plus.

Salary range: $115,000 - $140,000 (bonus eligible)
