Boiler Operator / Stationary Engineers Needed

Job Description (Work will be performed at a Medical Facility on base at Camp Pendleton)

Personnel designated as Boiler Operators shall have five years of experience in the maintenance, operation, and repair of centralized boiler and chiller equipment and related auxiliary systems, with at least three years of experience working in a large complex Central Plant capable of producing over 500 boiler horsepower high-pressure steam heating capacity and 400 tons centrifugal chiller produced cooling capacity that support specialized facilities such as a hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, operate, and maintain high-pressure steam boilers, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, deaerators, surge tanks, feed water systems, steam and chilled water distribution, and chemical treatment systems.

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on boiler and chiller equipment within a Central Plant.

  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of the central plant DDC control system.

  • Adhere to safety protocols and standards in all operations.

Essential Skills

  • Five years of experience in the maintenance, operation, and repair of centralized boiler and chiller equipment and related auxiliary systems.

  • Three years of experience working in a large complex Central Plant.

  • Working knowledge of boiler and chiller equipment operation, maintenance, and repair for a Central Plant.

  • Skilled in operating high-pressure steam boilers, chillers, and related systems.

  • Current Stationary Engineer’s license from a recognized entity such as NIULPE First Class Engineer or equivalent within the second year of employment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience with steam boilers in any industry.

  • EPA Certification or previous Navy Experience (Machine Mate).

  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience, with three of those years in a commercial facility.

  • This position is located at a Naval Hospital at Camp Pendleton. The environment includes the use of high-pressure boiler and chiller equipment, with adherence to strict safety and operational protocols.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.64 - $38.64/hr.
