Responsibilities
Under the general direction of the Business Office Supervisor the Patient Financial Counselor is primarily responsible for verifying insurance benefits and eligibility as presented by the patient. They are also responsible for patient account inquiries/requests and payment postings for payments made at the site. Also responsible for communicating with the patient (on phone or at site) any needs for additional information

Salary Range: $39,179 - $48,397 (Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.)
Qualifications
Education
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Knowledge of insurance, billing and collection concepts and theory.
Experience
Required: Three years in similar field involving insurance verification, 3rd party payors, patient accounts and
business office functions.

Special Skills
Required: Windows 2000, Computer skills.
Must have experience using ICD 9 and CPT codes experience in facilities billing.
Fast and accurate data entry skills.
Good knowledge of managed care contracts.
Preferred: IDX Experience, Epic.
Other
Required: Previous customer service experience.
Basic knowledge of health insurance.
Type 30 wpm.
Effective communication skills.
Must be able to speak, hear, write, and read clearly.
