Peru Central School Secretary to the Seperintendent & Distri in Peru, New York
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as the administrative assistant to the Superintendent, handling scheduling, appointments, and office management. Act as the primary liaison between the Superintendent, district staff, and the Board of Education (BOE) to facilitate effective communication. Maintain and update district communications regarding policies, initiatives, and key events. Manage and update district calendars, ensuring alignment with meetings and deadlines. Attend all Board of Education meetings, take detailed notes, and prepare meeting minutes. Ensure all district policies are current, accessible, and compliant with regulations. Oversee district-wide records management, maintaining both electronic and paper records. Assist with legal documentation and policy-related tasks as required by the Superintendent and BOE. Take initiative to support district goals and drive efficiency in administrative operations. Organize and facilitate the annual budget vote, overseeing logistics and communication. Serve as a liaison between the New York State Education Department (NYSED), BOCES, and the District to ensure compliance with state regulations. Perform additional duties as assigned to support the Superintendents office and district operations. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with staff, BOE members, and external agencies. Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail for managing records and administrative tasks. Proficiency with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Drive, etc.) and electronic document management systems. Ability to take initiative, work independently, and collaborate effectively within a team. Strong problem-solving skills with a solutions-oriented approach. Discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive information. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. A positive and energetic work ethic, with ownership of tasks and projects. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education in Communications, Business, Marketing, Legal Studies, or a related field. Prior experience in an administrative support role, preferably within an educational or governmental setting. Familiarity with legal documentation and district policies is preferred. Experience in public relations and professional communication development.
