This position is a Central Office position with a various permanent work locations that includes: St. Paul/Golden or D3-St. Cloud (hoteling)
This position will have the flexibility to telecommute, work a hybrid schedule, and/or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to complete a telework agreement. The incumbent may be expected to work in the office on occasion.
The position exits to apply advanced-level program knowledge and expertise of the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP), perform in-depth motor carrier investigations and compliance reviews on motor carriers with a history of non-compliance and take enforcement actions to enforce federal and state motor carrier safety regulations and, as applicable, hazardous materials regulations. This position must independently obtain and maintain all required safety investigator certifications. This position exists to serve as an advanced-level subject matter expert (SME) to educate, train, advise, and assist the OFCVO staff, the motor carrier industry, regulatory agencies, law enforcement agencies and the public with motor carrier regulations and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications
Three years of professional experience working with federal motor carrier laws, rules and regulations and meet the following bullets below:
NOTE: A bachelor’s or master’s degree in law, Business, Education, Communications, Criminal Justice, Psychology/Sociology or similar field substitutes for one year of professional experience.
Experience must demonstrate:
¿ Experience with motor carrier records and record-keeping requirements
¿ Experience with state and federal motor carrier laws, rules and regulations and interrelationships of state and federal agencies
¿ Experience independently planning, scheduling and conducting audits and investigations
¿ Experience with analyzing complex data to determine corrective action
¿ Currently hold certifications in:
Federal certification to conduct General Hazardous Materials inspections
Federal certification as a Commercial Vehicle Inspector
Federal certification to conduct Compliance Reviews/Safety Investigations
¿ Valid Class D drivers’ license to operate agency vehicles to travel throughout the state
