The Institute of Cannabis Research (ICR) is responsible for implementing cannabis research and dissemination of cannabis research results through initiatives including, but not limited to, hosting an international cannabis research conference, and the publication of its research journal,Journal of Cannabis Research. Its mission is to generate new knowledge of cannabis and its derivatives through research and education that improves lives and contributes to science, medicine, and society.

Description of Job
The Operations Assistant (OA) is a full time administrative professional position that is responsible for supporting the overall operation and mission of the ICR to produce unbiased cannabis research and broadly disseminate the results of cannabis research. The OA reports to the Director of the ICR; however the OA collaborates with the entire ICR team and supports team activities as appropriate. This includes support with purchasing, travel, fiscal management, and serving as the primary point of contact for external parties for the ICR. The OA is responsible for some marketing and communication efforts, which include but are not limited to producing e-Newsletters, updating the ICR’s website, managing social media, general email communications for the ICR, and production of the ICR’s Annual Report.
Primary Duties
Manage marketing and communications (e.g. website, newsletters, email communications, infographics, Annual Report).
Support ICR operations, (e.g. public point of contact, meeting coordination, meeting minutes), purchasing, travel arrangements, and serve as fiscal officer delegate.
Contract management – student employees, temporary contracts, service contracts, annual software contracts.
Assist with the annual conference to include the creation of contracts, event planning, honorariums, registration of ICR Staff and Board Members, travel reimbursements, reservations, catering, etc.
Assist with special initiatives as assigned by the Director (e.g. website migration or advancement initiatives).
Collaborate with the Strategic Partnership and Outreach Specialist.

Minimum Qualifications
Evidence of effective written communication skills
1 year in a position supporting the operation of a program
Experience managing internal and external office/ program/ professional communications
Experience managing internal and external contracting and agreement processes
Experience preparing audience-appropriate presentations, communications and publications for a wide range of groups
Evidence of the ability to manage multiple projects or tasks to a timely conclusion in a fast-paced environment with competing time demands
Demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, inclusion and equity among peers and students
Experience in a position or activity that required:
Effective working relationships with colleagues, an external Board, and the general public
effective verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education
3 or more years in a position supporting operation of a program in an academic setting
Experience with budget/fiscal management
Experience with website management
Experience producing materials for marketing and communication
