Annual Salary: $105,000 - $130,000 Position The Automation & Controls Engineer II is responsible for performing the automation needs related to the development and manufacturing of advanced composites through conceptual design, technology development, procurement, and validation testing by applying research and analytical methods, appropriate testing, and basic engineering or scientific experience to help solve complex technical problems, assist, develop or evaluate new technology, and improve the efficiency of existing equipment in production. The Controls Engineer will: Troubleshoot common issues independently and analyze/solve common issues using critical thinking with minimal guidance Address routine customer queries effectively and some difficult situations with management guidance Takes ownership of assigned tasks, working independently to address issues and drive solutions, demonstrating understanding of immediate issues (including business impact) Design ground-up electrical systems Advanced debugging of electrical issues in automated manufacturing equipment Debug complex programming issues and drive revision control methods Configure new SCADA users and set credentials Train operators on how to use SCADA to control equipment Create tags, trend data, and complex screens within the SCADA platform Design electrical systems to UL508a and safety systems to ANSI-RAI R15.06 with supervision Assemble, adjust, align, and modify mechanical assemblies View, understand, and obtain dimensions from CAD models through the ability to create CAD models, assembly, and utilize a vault Adhere to Lock out Tag out, and arc flash procedures Design machine safety systems Preferred Qualifications: Can follow scripts and guidelines for basic interactions Can identify and report potential security risks Understands when to wear appropriate safety equipment based on the task at hand Understands how machine safety systems operate General understanding of industrial networking including TCP stack, Ethernet/IP, ring topology, VLANS, and network debugging. Familiarity with robot operation, basic programming, and point teaching Familiarity with machine vision Intermediate PLC programming experience Understanding of revision control methods Proficient at utilizing SCADA to operate equipment Understanding of how SCADA systems utilize databases Capability to design electrical systems to UL508a and safety systems to ANSI-RAI R15.06 independently Experience working on manufacturing equipment Ability to operate typical hand and power tools Understand 3 Phase power systems of 480V and below Ability to set up VFD from scratch Ability to create pneumatic and hydraulic schematics Experience sizing and selecting valves Preferred Experience: Intermediate knowledge of Industry 4.0.
