Aerotek Machine Operator in Saint Paul, Minnesota

Job Description

We are a manufacturer of plastic products in the blown film industry located in Hudson, WI. Picture the plastic that holds magazines in place when purchasing from the airport, or the plastic that you see wrapped around hay bales in Western Wisconsin. If you order new furniture or appliances, it is the wrap that holds things together. We provide our plastic products for the agriculture, medical, and manufacturing industries. In this role, you will be responsible for helping run one of three blown film lines. This is a labor-intensive and fairly fast-paced job. You will operate, load, and palletize large plastic rolls to small size rolls.

The schedule is 2 days working, 2 days off and 3 days working, 2/2/3. These are 12 hour shifts from either 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Work 3 days one week and 4 days next week – have every other weekend off.

Pay: $20-21/hour

Responsibilities

  • Use of shaft hoist

  • Core loading, taping, tagging

  • Roll handling

  • Packaging/Palletizing

  • Replacing trims

  • Barrel (containing product) switching/changing

  • Quality control, identifying bad product

  • Loading and maintaining scrap conveyor

  • Labeling, boxing, and loading 50-pound plastic rolls

  • Changing out cutting knives on the machine

  • Package rolls after indexing them from one core to another or maintain a machine that indexes the rolls automatically

  • Package all products according to customer specifications and production standards

  • Pack rolls and observe rolls for splices and changes

  • Work with other packers to keep production lines running

  • Ensure correct counts, rolls of film, and supplies according to job specifications

  • Notify lead or supervisor of production defects as they occur

  • Assist lead or supervisor in changeovers or setting up production line

  • Follow quality specifications when packing product

  • Maintain a safe and clean workplace

  • Sustain productivity and quality standards

  • Follow all OSHA requirements and standards

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to stand 8-12 hours during a shift

Work Environment

The production laborers must be able to adjust to changing priorities and be able to multi-task. The company is growing rapidly and has just purchased a new machine, increasing the need for hires. The environment can get a little warm during the summer and is not climate-controlled due to the heat needed to melt resin beads. However, the workspace is generally very clean and well-maintained.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $24.00/hr.
