Job Summary
The Research and Analytics Data (RAaD) team within the Office of Research Information Systems ( ORIS ) is seeking a Senior Business Data Analyst that will play a key role in driving data-informed decision-making across research administration and the university. This role involves interpreting and analyzing complex datasets to aid strategic planning, enhance operational efficiency, and support initiatives for the Vice President for Research ( VPR ) and other departments. This position will work closely with the VPR and leadership in research administration across campus.
This role will primarily be responsible for analyzing internal data to the university, including, but not limited to, proposals and awards, grants and contract accounting, technology licensing and commercialization, and human resources and faculty appointments related to research. The successful candidate will be a seasoned professional with a strong background in data analysis, data visualization, and collaborating with decision makers and stakeholders. Responsibilities
Work closely with research leadership, faculty, and staff across campus to understand and address data needs and information requests.
Query, interpret, and analyze complex data from the university’s data warehouse and other databases to support research and decision-making processes.
Develop, maintain, and enhance interactive dashboards and comprehensive reports for research leadership and campus stakeholders.
Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data by implementing and maintaining data quality standards and protocols.
Provide technical support and training to faculty and staff on data tools, dashboards, and reporting systems.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor’s degree in area of specialty or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Four to six years of experience in the field or in a related area required.

Preferences
Bachelor’s degree (masters preferred) and 4-6 years of experience in business analytics/intelligence, data science, information systems, or related field.
Highly experienced with data visualization tools (Tableau preferred) and industry best practices
Proficiency in querying, manipulating, and analyzing complex datasets
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to present complex data to both technical and non-technical audiences
