The Nurse Practitioner will provide general dermatology services to patients, working under the direction and supervision of a Family Medicine Physician. This role requires clinical expertise in diagnosing, treating, and managing common dermatological conditions, with a focus on patient care and outcomes. This position requires excellent communication skills, a strong foundation in dermatology, and the ability to collaborate effectively with the medical team.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive assessments, including history-taking and physical exams, to evaluate dermatological conditions.
Diagnose common skin conditions such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, rashes, and other dermatological diseases. Develop treatment plans, including prescribing medications and recommending appropriate treatments or referrals.
Perform minor dermatological procedures such as cryotherapy, excisions, biopsies, and skin lesion removals as necessary.
Provide clear and thorough explanations about skin health, treatment options, and preventive care (e.g., sun protection, skincare routines).
Work closely with the Family Physician to ensure comprehensive patient care, including discussing complex cases and treatment adjustments as needed.
Maintain accurate, timely, and complete patient records in accordance with clinic policies and relevant regulations.
Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as needed. Provide follow-up care instructions to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Stay current on advancements in dermatology and maintain professional development through ongoing education, certifications, and training.
Qualifications
Education
Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) with a specialization as a Nurse Practitioner.
Additional Dermatology certification preferred.
Licensure
- Current California Nurse Practitioner license and Current DEA license.
Certifications
Dermatology Certified Nurse Practitioner (DCNP) is required. National certification as a Family, Adult, Pediatric or Geriatric Nurse Practitioner.
Current BLS required, from AHA
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in dermatology, with a strong background in general dermatology practices and patient care
