JOB DESCRIPTION Employment Type: Full Time/Hourly/Non-Exempt

Salary Information: $21.40 - $30.58/hourly

Who We Are Continental Maritime of San Diego, a Titan company, is a certified Master Ship Repair Contractor for the U.S. Navy. Our skilled professionals have performed hundreds of ship repairs for the Navy and Military Sealift Command. CMSD does repair on all types of major surface vessels including CVN, CG, and DDG, and all types of amphibious ships including LHD, LHA, LSD, LPD, and auxiliary ships. Our work also includes repairs and alterations to a wide range of Combatant, Hull, Mechanical and Electrical, and Habitability Systems.

Position Specifics Continental Maritime of San Diego is currently seeking an experienced Hot Work Inspector 3 to support our operations. The Hot Work Inspector reports to the Hot Work Coordinator and is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and posting hot work notices at designated work locations onboard ships. The position works from work request chits, hot work notices, and company reports. The Hot Work Inspector is the primary person responsible for supporting the hot work coordinator and maintaining continuity, and accountability associated with hot work operations.

Minimum Requirements Must be able to recognize, evaluate, and control hazards associated with hot work as well as enforce company safety procedures, rules, and assist in educating employees in fire prevention, and protection. Must have knowledge of applicable regulations and US Navy Standard items. Must have excellent written and oral skills; able to communicate effectively with all levels of the workforce. Must be proficient with navigating inside a naval ship via a ships bullseye. Must be able to obtain and maintain government issued credential to access applicable naval installation. Must be familiar with US Navy quality assurance requirements Must have demonstrated experience in execution and engineering support of test related functions Familiar with commonly used shipboard concepts, practices, and procedures Must be able to read and interpret work specifications, standards, and references Must be available for unscheduled extended work hours and non-standard workweeks Ability to get along with and foster good relationships among peers, supervisory, and customer personnel The ability to acquire a DBIDS application is required US Citizenship is required Must be available for 1st and 2nd shift Physical Requirements

May be exposed to fumes, irritants, laser light, toxic chemicals, and potential electrical shock in an industrial or shipboard environment May involve gathering data while observing rotating or operating machinery Requires working in an industrial or shipboard environment Frequently moves throughout the yard Must be able to maneuver, ascend and descend stairs/ladders/ramps located inside various ships Ability to move more than 40lbs.
